Statement of Transparency Principles
The Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Control (RECI) fully adheres to the COPE Principles of Transparency and Good Practice in Scholarly Publishing. In particular, RECI fully adheres to the following principles:
- Website: The journal website, including the text contained therein, clearly demonstrates that care has been taken to ensure high ethical and professional standards. It does not contain information that could mislead readers or authors, including any attempt to imitate the website of another journal/publisher. A statement of 'Aims and Scope' is included on the RECI website and the readership is clearly defined. There is a clear statement of what this journal will consider for publication, including authorship criteria (e.g. no consideration of multiple submissions, redundant publications). The journal's ISSN is clearly displayed (both on the website and on each individual published article).
- Journal Name: Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Control is a unique name and is not easily confused with another journal, nor can it mislead potential authors and readers about RECI's origin or association with other journals.
- Peer Review Process: RECI's content is clearly defined as a peer-reviewed journal. The peer review process, as well as all policies related to the journal's peer review procedures, are clearly described on the journal's website, including the peer review method used. RECI does not guarantee manuscript approval and pre-defines the time (in days) for the stages of the review process.
- Ownership and Management: Information about RECI's ownership and management is clearly indicated on the journal's website, ensuring that there is no misleading information about the nature of the journal's ownership.
- Administrative Team: RECI has an editorial board whose members are recognized experts in the subject areas included in the journal's scope. The full names and affiliations of the journal's editorial board are provided on the journal's website.
- Editorial Team/Contact Information: RECI provides the full names and affiliations of the journal’s editors on the journal’s website, as well as contact information for technical support, including a full address.
- Copyright and Licensing: The copyright policy is clearly stated in the author guidelines, and the copyright holder is named on all published articles. Likewise, licensing information is clearly described in the guidelines on the RECI website, and the licensing terms are indicated on all published articles. Authors are authorized to publish under a Creative Commons International License (CC BY 4.0), and all specific license requirements are clearly noted. Policies regarding the publication of accepted final versions or published articles in third-party repositories are clearly stated.
- Author Fees: RECI does not charge authors fees for submitting, reviewing, or publishing papers.
- Process for identifying and handling allegations of research misconduct: RECI Editors are committed to taking steps to identify and prevent the publication of articles where research misconduct has occurred, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and falsification/fabrication of data, among others. In no event will RECI or its editors encourage such misconduct, or knowingly permit such misconduct to occur. Should the RECI editor or editors become aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to an article published in this journal, they undertake to follow the COPE guidelines in dealing with the allegations. All papers submitted to RECI are checked using the CrossRef Similarity Check tool.
- Publication Ethics: RECI has detailed policies on publication ethics. These are clearly visible on its website and refer to: i) Journal policies on authorship and contribution; ii) How the journal will handle complaints and appeals; iii) Journal policies on conflicts of interest/competing interests; iv) Journal policies on data sharing and reproducibility; v) Journal policy on ethical oversight; vi) Journal policy on intellectual property; and vii) Journal options for post-publication discussions and corrections.
- Publication schedule: RECI’s publication frequency is clearly stated.
- Access: The manner in which the journal and individual articles are made available to readers, in open access and free of charge, is clearly stated.
- Archiving: RECI has adopted a plan for electronic backup and preservation of access to the journal’s content in the event the journal ceases publication; this is clearly stated in the journal’s Digital Archiving and Inclusion in Permanent Repositories Policy.
