This study analyzes, from a theoretical-critical perspective, the relationship between the High School Curriculum Reform, regulated by Laws No. 13.415/2017 and No. 14.945/2024, and the teaching work in the state school system of Espírito Santo. Using a qualitative approach and document analysis of SEDU (State Department of Education) public notices (2022 and 2024) and data from the School Census (2023–2024), the study reveals a mismatch between the discourse of curricular modernization and the actual conditions of teaching work. Although the state shows improvement in educational indicators and an increase in full-time enrollment, high levels of teacher effort, a strong predominance of temporary contracts, and low salaries persist. This context favors the consolidation of a managerial school management style and curricular reorganization based on flexible components of a pseudo-post-disciplinary nature, compromising professional autonomy and teacher identity.
