This article aims to analyze an experience of using classroom diaries in the context of the Didactics curricular component in initial teacher education in Modern Languages undergraduate course, based on a student’s perceptions regarding meanings about/for learning to teach. Methodologically, it is classified as a case study (Yin, 2001), through the analysis of 3 (three) notes of the classroom diary entries from a student. It is observed that the student constructs varied meanings from the experiences lived, within the teacher education process proposed. These meanings, in addition to provoking a metalanguage regarding the task of producing classroom diaries, mark important learnings in teaching, related to the knowledge required for teaching. Therefore, it is perceived that the use of classroom diaries is an interesting strategy, in favor of paths for pedagogical innovation in the initial teacher education in Modern Languages courses.
