This article analyzes how the pedagogical practices and teaching experiences of Professor Altina Mergulhão express transformative teaching in the context of education in the Amazonian countryside. To do this, it uses memory as a method, guided by Bosi's study, and Paulo Freire's theoretical framework to interpret the teacher's memories. The study highlights that the teacher's practice is pedagogical and encompasses the reorganization of the school, collective work with students and families, and the creative use of local resources. The narratives indicate that this teaching is not limited to the reproduction of content but is configured as a political act of resistance and creation, in which teaching is about discovering ways to improve collective life.
