This article originates from a master’s thesis aiming to understand the humanization process in the life histories, training, and teaching of physical education (PE) teachers. This narrative research was conducted with the participation of five PE teachers from the public school system of the municipality of Caieiras-SP, who narrated their stories and experiences through letters, individual conversations, and conversation circles. The letter genre was chosen to interweave the narrative of the research. Taking Paulo Freire’s conception of humanization as a reference, we recognize signs of humanization in the teachers' narratives. On this path, a constant exercise of sensibility, listening, and respect for the life stories of the people who produced this hopeful investigative trail with us through narrative research was necessary. Humanizing involves putting ourselves in the condition of those who learn and understand that our experiences cross us. Thus, narrating one’s own life story and teaching practice, surrendering ourselves to an (auto)biographical process of (self)formation, can contribute to humanizing actions.
