Feminization is a phenomenon which has social origins that have repercussions on teachers' work. This text is part of post-doctoral studies carried out in Portugal and is also the result of the authors' experience with teacher training both in Brazil and in Portugal. The results indicate that the feminization of the profession persists in both countries, since in addition to keeping the number of women in teaching higher, students in training in both countries demonstrate a still fragile understanding of the phenomena related to this subject. Therefore, the conclusion is that it is necessary to advance in this field of studies, incorporating this topic more vigorously in the training of teachers in both countries.
