The objective was to analyze the considerations of seven Physical Education trainers from public universities regarding lack of interest and lack of attractiveness in their career, through semi-structured interviews. The results were organized into three categories: 1) Processes of choice and lack of interest in teaching; 2) Devaluation of the teaching profession and lack of public policies; and, 3) Salary, working and teaching autonomy conditions. It is concluded that training at university must contribute to the tension for transformations in working conditions. Therefore, it is essential that there are public policy constructions that can more effectively develop the attractiveness of the teaching career.
