The present study aims to provide an overview of the financing of special education in Brazil. To this end, a Bibliographic Research was carried out among articles that dealt with the theme. With the research, and after the adoption of the inclusion/exclusion criteria, 24 articles were identified. The analysis of the articles allowed us to conclude that when analyzing the construction of public policies for financing special education, the performance of hegemonic groups and movements is notorious, which do not always have this same objective, and which have disputed the public funds destined to this modality of education, especially with regard to the offer of Specialized Educational Service.
