Abstract

Dengue, an arboviral disease increasingly present in Brazil, has seen a significant rise in cases due to climate change, the circulation of virus serotypes, and failures by public authorities. This descriptive cross-sectional study, using content analysis methodology, examined publications on Instagram and the potential of this platform for disseminating health education strategies on the topic of dengue. Only public publications were selected, resulting in 321 posts, most originating from companies and organizations, with "general information" being the most frequently addressed theme, and some publications receiving up to 100 likes. Instagram is an environment with great potential for promoting the sharing of relevant information, allowing different social actors to create and socialize knowledge. Thus, when properly used, it can contribute to public health through education, engagement, and combating misinformation about dengue, for example.
