This article discusses the practices and perceptions of teachers regarding the use of mobile digital devices in teaching activities, alongside the expectations and usage patterns of students, concerning these devices within the school environment. This study was conducted in 2023 as part of a Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program at a public university in Bahia, Brazil. The research setting was an urban public school within the state school system. Data were collected using a focus group and questionnaires administered to administrators, teachers, and students. The results highlighted the potential of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) for school education, provided that the challenges of teacher training, screen-related distractions, and the discrepancies in digital fluency between teachers and students are addressed.
