Abstract

This article examines the perceptions of stakeholders within the açaí supply chain in the municipality of Concórdia do Pará, focusing on the social and economic aspects inherent to this process. It highlights the relevance of açaí to regional development, demonstrating how this supply chain influences the local economy and contributes to community well-being. The primary objective is to analyze the social role played by various stakeholders, emphasizing the social relationships and dynamics that foster social inclusion and the reduction of inequalities. The research employs a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews with key supply chain stakeholders; the data were analyzed using content analysis techniques with the aid of MAXQDA® software. The identified analytical categories—production, municipality, self-consumption, technical assistance, family, and knowledge—reveal a perception of the açaí supply chain as a driver of regional development. The results indicate that production and the municipal context are the most prominent elements, while technical assistance and family support emerge as pillars of the activity's social and economic dynamics. The study concludes that the açaí supply chain, beyond its economic value, plays a strategic role in promoting social development, reaffirming the need for public policies aimed at valuing family farming and rural labor.
