Objectives: This article aimed to describe a new group intervention model focused on the meaning of life, implemented with patients diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Method: This is an experience report developed since 2000 at a university in southern Brazil. The groups are closed-format, consisting of 12 one-hour sessions, and follow the theoretical framework of Logotherapy. The sessions are structured into three phases: (1) Recognize, (2) Recover, and (3) Reframe. These stages provided patients with greater acceptance of their current condition, fostering a renewed perspective on themselves and their possibilities. Results: The experience revealed that the desire to die, concern with death, fear of pain and inability to endure the suffering caused by dyspnea crises, hopelessness, and existential emptiness were central themes in the discourse of several patients. Conclusion: Meaning-centered therapy promoted a climate of hope, encouraging openness to new values and meanings. These experiences helped patients to reframe their lives and to develop more confident attitudes toward the future and its possibilities.
