Under the light of metaphor-led discourse analysis, partial results of analysis about the influence that the media seems to exert in the talk of urban violence victims in Fortaleza-Ceara-Brazil are presented. We understand metaphor as a dynamic complex emergence capable of expressing participants’ feelings, values, belies and attitudes as they talk about how their routines have changed in view of the prevalent state of violence. Under this view, we analyze the recurrence of metaphor and metonymic vehicles present in some corpus excerpts that allow us to propose the emergence of the systematic metaphor VIOLENCE IS A PRODUCT MANUFACTURED BY THE MEDIA.Downloads
