Abstract

This article draws on the Circuit of Culture to investigate audience perceptions of sound in the film Bacurau, as expressed by users of the AdoroCinema website. Thus, we ask: how is Bacurau’s soundtrack read and commented on by viewers of AdoroCinema? To this end, we begin with the Readings axis to analyze thirteen comments collected from the website. The results reveal the sounds of Bacurau as part of a constantly contested circuit of meaning production, in which interpretations are shaped by the experiences, values, and practices of Brazilian lived cultures.
