Abstract

The purpose of the creation of the Free Trade Area of Americas (ALCA) has been intensively discussed in the market, however environmental impacts are not considered. The impact of economical liberalization on environment gave new dimension to the concept of economical externality. In general, this research aims to quantify the level of air pollution in Brazil after ALCA’s introduction. The results show that ALCA brings fundamental gains to Brazilian economy and has positive impacts on air quality in Brazil according to the variation of total emission of polluters.
