This article aims at evaluating the evolution of specialization and concentration in the furniture industries in the State of Rio Grande do Sul from 1995 to 2005, trying to identify the main Local Production Systems (SLP) and the level of activities concentration in the different classes. In the evaluation, was used the Locational Quotient and the Locational Gini Coefficient elaborated for the four classes (CNAE 4 digit). The geographical division is the one of IBGE’S microregions and the data obtained from the Annual Report of Social Information (RAIS). The results of this research demonstrate that the industry’s level of concentration in the State is elevated but is decreasing and that region of Caxias do Sul stands out in the furniture production while the Passo Fundo region stands out in the mattress production.Downloads
