This article aims to analyze the performance of the manufacturing and mining industries in the state of Minas Gerais and its regions using indicators of relative competitiveness. This indicator of results is acquired from the relation between real wage and labor productivity in the state, by activity, in studied regions compared to a reference area. In this way, the performances of state industries of Minas Gerais are contrasted with those ones of Brazil to identify their advantages or disadvantages. Afterwards, the analyses of regional industries data determine their relative competitiveness. The information used are the microdata of the Annual Survey of Industry produced by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) over the period from 1996 to 2006.Downloads
