Injury to the transgression: the discourse on strike in the press

This article discusses how the region's leading newspaper COREDE Vale do Rio Pardo, Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil, Gazeta do Sul, built the discourse on strike episodes occurred in the region during the 1980s. Reflection shows that the meanings attributed to these events by the newspaper end up redrawing the event reporting. By means of discourse analysis, it is observed that the conflicts between capital and labor in that region also take place in the media arena and their discursive constructions are inclined to the manifestation of the marginalization of workers. In the case of strikes, in the publication under review, mainly, the news focus two approaches: (1) that the outages result in injury and (2) that represent a transgression.Downloads
