Abstract

The objective of this paper is to address the impact of public policies to encourage small-scale agricultural production in southern Brazil. This study is based on interviews with family farmers in the municipalities of the micro region of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. The study showed that public policies are very fragmented and disjointed with each other. This and other aspects are critical to maintain the state of secrecy in which it is immersed most of the agricultural industries in this part of Brazil.
