This article presents a model for regional development analysis, which interlinks the knowledge of regional development literature with the theme of economic viability of projects and analysis of productive chains. The model was inspired on the matrices of SWOT and BCG analysis, and is divided in two stages: the first seeks to identify opportunities along a certain productive chain in a given region. The second stage analyzes the opportunities on the aspects of the potential impact on regional development and economic viability of each opportunity. The model was developed and used in studying the soybean chain in the municipality of Toledo – PR, and it showed to be effective in identifying the best opportunities for the development of the region.Downloads
