Abstract

This article addresses issues related to novel planning based on the reflections and experiences of the research and creative writing group “Escrever o romance: processos de criação na literatura brasileira contemporânea”,, affiliated with the Graduate Program in Letters and Literature at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). It also presents a bibliographic survey of reflections on and practices of novel planning by contemporary writers and Creative Writing instructors, including Luis Antonio de Assis Brasil, Carola Saavedra, Haruki Murakami, Natalia Borges Polesso, Noemi Jaffe, Ursula K. Le Guin, Robert Olen Butler, Stephen King, and Zadie Smith. As a proposal for the systematization and analysis of planning methods, the article discusses the development of a questionnaire designed to investigate the particularities of literary planning.
