Abstract

Introduction: Primary Health Care (PHC) is fundamental in the care of the territory's registered population, being the basis and main means of access to the Unified Health System (SUS). The term domiciled classifies people who, due to some temporary or permanent disability, remain at home and are unable to travel to the Health Unit. Objective: to characterize domiciled users of an ESF in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Method: descriptive cross-sectional study with a quantitative-qualitative approach, applied in an ESF. The Mini Mental Questionnaire (MMSE) was used, a sociodemographic questionnaire in a semi-structured interview format with closed and open questions about health perception and the Lawton and Brody Index. Results: the sample consisted of nine individuals, with a varied age range and a predominance of women. The majority of the sample has low education, a history of manual work and an income of up to two minimum wages. Older individuals had a combination of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and depression and anxiety were common in different age groups. In their perception of health, individuals related their conception of health to the absence of pain, independence in daily tasks and well-being. On the Lawton and Brody scale, an impact on the performance of daily activities, functionality and need for family support was observed. Conclusion: monitoring strategies are necessary, acting as a foundation in the health and disease process. The data is relevant for drawing up care plans, expanding professionals' vision in directing health practices.
